[shadow=blue,left,300]Welcome to Hogwarts...[/shadow]
This is probably the most confusing and complex part of the board to understand. It'll be pretty easy once you get the hang of it though. So here's the thing. There are.... seven core subjects and six optional subjects. Depending on your year, you will be taking eight to ten classes.
Astronomy
Charms
Defense Against the Dark Arts
Herbology
History of Magic
Potions
Transfiguration
---
Ancient Runes
Arithmacy
Flying
Care of Magical Creatures
Divination
Muggle Studies
We'll explain credits first. Credits measure your magical ability. How strong your magic is and in what areas these strengths are. Each year starts with a certain amount of credits, and it's up to you to build on what you start with to make your character stronger.
1 - 10
2 - 50
3 - 100
4 - 150
5 - 200
6 - 250
7 - 300
Teacher - 500
This is the amount your character will start with when you begin playing on the board, depending on the character's year.
Now what you'll do is divide these credits between every subject that is avaliable to your year.
*Note* 5th + Can Include 'Flying' in their abilities.
There's two more subjects, that aren't a class but are an ability that your credits will need to be divided within. Those two are 'Quidditch' and 'Duelling,' however, your Quidditch ability cannot be lower than Flying, and your Duelling cannot be lower than your Defense Against the Dark Arts or Charms credit levels.
So, I'll make up an example of what it should look like in your stats.
Astronomy - 10
Charms - 19
Defense Against the Dark Arts - 20
Herbology - 11
History of Magic - 3
Potions - 5
Transfiguration - 7
---
Ancient Runes - 2
Arithmacy - 1
Flying - 18
Care of Magical Creatures - 11
Divination - 0
Muggle Studies - 9
---
Quidditch - 16
Duelling - 18
Okay. Wow, that dude looks pretty good at DADA, doesn't he? .... Well, not really. See, you're always wanting more credits, there isn't a maximum amount of them. And twenty credits in one subject, isn't really that strong. It's stronger than nineteen credits of course, but it's not that great. Using the credit system is a unique way of measuring your character's strengths and weaknesses.
How do I earn credits, you ask? Well, I'll tell you! There are a few ways to earn credits. One way is, to attend classes (which are mandatory unless stated otherwise). You'll get one credit for every options class you attend and two credits for every core class you attend. If you have any extra credit assignments from your teachers you may get one credit from that. Another way to earn credits is to study. If your character studies a lot, moderators and administrators will be patrolling topics and if they see studying worthy of a credit then you'll earn one.
The beauty of magic credits is that you earn them and the admins keep track of HOW MANY you've earned, however, you are free to distribute them however you like. If you got a credit from a flying lesson, that doesn't necessarily mean that credit must be used as a flying attribute. It can be used for anything.
